A first stroll: To kick off our journey, we take a leisurely stroll through the city's historic streets.
Mint tea and local food: It's an excellent opportunity to bond and enjoy some local delights, such as sipping mint tea and sampling the regional cuisine.
2Day 2The Great Pyramid of Giza
The ancient world & Grand Egyptian Museum
Today, the highlight of our journey awaits: the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
The Great Pyramid: We set our sights on the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Cheops pyramid.
Chefren, Menkaure and the Sphinx: In the Giza necropolis, we also see the pyramids of Chefren and Menkaure and the enigmatic Sphinx, colossal monuments that have endured the test of time.
Time for the Grand Egyptian Museum? We can also visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, which displays a huge array of archaeological treasures, including Tutankhamun's tomb.
Dinner on a river cruise? After this first taste of Egyptian history, we can step things up with a dinner on board a river cruise.
3Day 3Ancient Egypt
Memphis: the Capital of Ancient Egypt
This morning we can explore an unexpected treasure: not the well-known pyramids, but the historic gems of Memphis, Ancient Egypt's first capital, and the nearby Saqqara necropolis.
A newly found tomb: Just under five years ago, a remarkably well-preserved tomb, likely belonging to a 4,400-year-old Egyptian official, was unearthed here.
Djoser's pyramid: We can see Djoser's pyramid, the country's oldest, where a total of 17 pharaohs were laid to rest.
Time for Dashur? If time permits, we'll venture to the Dashur necropolis, home to the bent pyramid that opened to the public in 2019.
Nile river cruising
After this morning's history, it's time to unwind.
A stroll downtown: We take a leisurely stroll through the city centre.
Felucca at sunset? Alternatively, we can opt for a felucca ride on the Nile River: from this traditional boat, we'll have the chance to admire the sunset over the city and look back on the day.
4Day 4Cairo
The Medieval City
Today is our final day in Cairo, with a full day to uncover the unique treasures of the city's Islamic quarter.
The Citadel of Saladin: We start at the Citadel of Saladin, a historical bastion that is home to the Alabaster and Sultan Hasan mosques. Originally built as a defence against the Crusaders, its elevated position offers sweeping panoramic views.
Shopping at Khan el Khalili: Next is Khan el Khalili, the city's bustling souk and an essential stop for souvenir hunters: here you can stock up on everything from replica ancient Egyptian artefacts to lamps, vases and papyrus scrolls.
A farewell meal? After exploring the city, it's time to say goodbye, perhaps over a delicious meal at a traditional restaurant.
Let's raise a toast to this adventure and all the journeys yet to come!
