1Day 1Welcome to FrankfurtOvernight: Frankfurt
Let the Christmas Markets begin!
We start in Frankfurt, one of Germany’s most vibrant cities. After arrivals and check-in, we head to the Frankfurt Christmas Market, one of the country’s largest, where we’ll raise our first Glühwein toast together. Expect dazzling lights, the giant Christmas tree at Römerberg, and rows of stalls serving sausages, pretzels, and candied almonds.
Our adventure begins in Frankfurt, a city that perfectly blends a modern skyline with a medieval old town. We’ll meet as a group, enjoy our first mulled wine, and soak in the festive atmosphere of the Christmas market. This is where the spirit of the trip comes alive: good food, new friends, and the excitement of a holiday road trip ahead.
2Day 2Frankfurt → CologneOvernight: Cologne
We pick up the rental cars and go!
Today, we pick up our cars and drive along the stunning Rhine Valley. We’ll stop in Sankt Goar, a fairy-tale village famous for castles and wine, and in Koblenz, where the Moselle meets the Rhine. By afternoon, we arrive in Cologne, home to Germany’s most famous cathedral and its iconic Christmas Market.
This is a day for road-tripping through the heart of the Rhine. Between castles perched on hills, riverside towns, and cozy pit stops, the journey is as magical as the destination. Cologne welcomes us with its majestic cathedral and one of Europe’s most iconic Christmas markets, lit up by the towering Dom in the background.
3Day 3Cologne → StuttgartOvernight: Stuttgart
We Journey South 🚗
From Cologne, we head south, stopping in Heidelberg, Germany’s most romantic city, where the Christmas market spreads across five squares. By evening, we reach Stuttgart, famous for its lively Christmas market and buzzing nightlife. Perfect night to sample local wines or beers together.
We’ll wander Heidelberg’s cobbled lanes before heading to Stuttgart, where the markets come alive with music, food, and festive energy. With its mix of culture and nightlife, this day is both festive and fun — the ideal road trip balance.
4Day 4Stuttgart → NurembergOvernight: Nuremberg
A Medieval Jewel
Our highlight today is Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany’s medieval jewel and perhaps the most fairy-tale Christmas market of all. We continue to Nuremberg, home of the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt, where we’ll join a gingerbread-making class to dive into local tradition.
Walking through Rothenburg feels like stepping inside a snow globe. Later, Nuremberg welcomes us with its grand market, red-and-white stalls, and spiced gingerbread treats. The evening is festive, immersive, and delicious.
5Day 5Nuremberg → MunichOvernight: Munich
A moment of memory, then to more Christmas joy!
We drive to Dachau Memorial Site, an important and emotional stop to reflect on Germany’s history. By afternoon, we reach Munich. After check-in, we’ll explore Munich’s Christmas markets, with Marienplatz glowing under the Gothic town hall.
This is a more reflective day as we confront Europe’s history in Dachau. Arriving in Munich, we balance this experience with festive markets, hearty Bavarian food, and warm mugs of Glühwein.
6Day 6Excursion to Neuschwanstein CastleOvernight: Munich
The 'Sleeping Beauty' castle
Today we set off for a full-day excursion to Neuschwanstein Castle, the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Snow-capped peaks, winter forests, and breathtaking architecture make this day a fairy tale come to life. In the evening, we enjoy our farewell dinner in Munich and one last festive market crawl.
Neuschwanstein in winter is the stuff of dreams. We’ll tour the inside of the castle, admire the surrounding Alps, and return to Munich for one final evening together — celebrating the trip with laughter, memories, and Bavarian cheer.
7Day 7Goodbye MunichOvernight: Munich
Goodbye Munich
Time for goodbyes! After breakfast, departures are flexible depending on flight times. Some might squeeze in one last stroll through Munich before heading to the airport.
