Itinerary
Route: FlorenceLa SpeziaRomeNaples
1Day 1Welcome to Italy, first night in FlorenceOvernight: Florence
Florence, let's begin
Bags down in Florence in the afternoon, and the trip starts with the crew and a sunset.
A casual welcome meeting, names learned, first aperitivo in a lively piazza.
Then dinner as the group fancies: a cozy trattoria, or pizza slices and beers by the river, with travel stories and no pressure.
2Day 2Florence classics and Renaissance TuscanyOvernight: Florence
Exploring the capital of Tuscany
A full day in the Tuscan capital, and the shape of it is ours to choose.
Espresso and cornetti first, then art: the Uffizi, and Michelangelo's David face to face.
For views, the Duomo climb and Piazzale Michelangelo with a picnic; if energy remains, Santo Spirito's artisan shops, hidden gardens and local markets.
It ends with a lazy aperitivo, wine in hand, shoes dusty from stone streets.
3Day 3Cinque Terre, Manarola and RiomaggioreOvernight: La Spezia
Riomaggiore and Manarola
A morning train swaps Tuscany for the Ligurian coast, ahead of the crowds.
Manarola first, where colourful buildings tumble into the sea: vineyard terraces, photos, then a slow seaside lunch.
Later Riomaggiore for golden-hour wandering and a sunset spritz, maybe from a local boat off the shore if the sea's calm and the mood is right.
4Day 4Sentiero Azzurro to Monterosso, Vernazza and CornigliaOvernight: La Spezia
Conquering Cinque Terre Trails
Boots on for the trail that made these villages famous, and there's an easy way out.
We start in Monterosso and follow the Sentiero Azzurro through craggy cliffs and coastal terraces to Vernazza, for photos, coffee and maybe a dip.
Then the path to Corniglia, perched high and peaceful, past vineyards, waves, lemon trees and distant villages; anyone tagging out early takes the scenic train.
5Day 5Rome arrival and hidden cornersOvernight: Rome
Arriving to the Capital
South by train to Rome, the Eternal City: bags down, sneakers on, into the streets.
A coin in the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon dome overhead, then the Jewish Ghetto for history and the best fried artichokes in town.
We climb Aventine Hill for skyline views and the keyhole perspective of the Vatican. Rome is wild and overwhelming, and also peaceful.
6Day 6Ancient Rome or papal RomeOvernight: Rome
Rome wasn't built in a day
No fixed times today, just two big options and advice on both.
For gladiators: the Colosseum, the Forum and the ruins of empire. For art: the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.
Evening is most likely pizza or carbonara in Trastevere, time by the Tiber River, or espresso in a bar older than your hometown.
7Day 7Naples, Spaccanapoli and PompeiiOvernight: Naples
Southbound to Naples + Pompeii Ruins
A fast train south, and the pace changes: more energy here than espresso.
Bags dropped, we walk Naples at its most chaotic: Spaccanapoli slicing the city in two, murals, markets and scooters racing past.
In the afternoon a local train to Pompeii and the frozen ruins of a Roman city, eerie and powerful; back in Naples, pizza where it was born, hot and folded.
8Day 8Path of the Gods down to PositanoOvernight: Naples
Path of the Gods
Another early start, but inland and upward, into the mountains above the Amalfi Coast.
From Agerola we hike the Path of the Gods, a ridge trail over cliffs, sea and whitewashed towns, then drop into Positano, all steep staircases, beach cafes and pastel houses.
Swim or snack as you like, and if energy remains a ferry to Sorrento for lemon granita and artisan shops, then back to Naples for the farewell dinner.
9Day 9Farewells in Naples
See you soon!
Nothing left but goodbyes, and everyone leaves at their own pace.
We pack, hug and split up: some head home, some keep going.
The group chat is alive, shoes scuffed, phone full. Italy's behind us, the journey isn't.
