Itinerary

  1. 1Day 1Welcome to Mexico!
    • Check-in: our adventure kicks off in Mexico City.

Check into your hotel in Mexico City and get ready for a welcome meeting!

To kick things off right, we'll spend the afternoon exploring this incredible city, diving into colourful markets, street art, and vibrant atmospheres. We'll be savoyring tacos, guacamole, churros, and of course, tequila to toast the start of our adventure.

      • An ornate palace with a golden dome, brightly lit against a city skyline at dusk with gardens in the foreground.
  2. 2Day 2Mexico City
    • Discovering Mexico City

This capital city is a whirlwind, home to twenty million inhabitants living life at a breakneck pace, making it hard to describe. Mexico City is, without a doubt, a place to experience deep down in your gut, and you can’t help but let yourself be swept away and enveloped by its unparalleled energy.

We’ll kick things off with a quick tour of Mexico City's historic centre, including the famous Zocalo square, the heart of the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico.

After lunch, we could opt for a visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum. She’s an iconic 20th-century artist who spent much of her life in “The Blue House” residence, initially with her family and years later with Diego Rivera.

And the day isn't over yet, because if I say Mexico, what comes to mind? Tacos and Tequila, of course!

      • Ancient stone pyramids stand behind a foreground of rough volcanic rocks under a vibrant sunset.
  3. 3Day 3Teotihuacan Excursion
    • The City of the Gods

WeRoaders, are you ready to dive into the history of this magnificent nation? This morning we'll head about 50 km from Mexico City to Teotihuacan: the “City of the Gods”.

It's an ancient Mexican metropolis famous for its imposing Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Founded between 100 BC and 650 AD, it was a religious trading centre of great importance. Today, it's one of Mexico's most fascinating and mysterious archaeological sites, steeped in history and culture.

After visiting the archaeological site, we'll head back to the capital where more local delicacies await us.

      • Ancient stone pyramids seen over a rough rock wall during a colorful sunset.
  4. 4Day 4Oaxaca
    • Towards Oaxaca

This morning we'll hop on a bus to head further south, towards Oaxaca.

Did you know this place was crowned the most beautiful city in the world according to Travel & Leisure's World's Best Awards?

Well, now you do! During the Day of the Dead festival, this city is undoubtedly one of the most authentic and captivating places, thanks to its rich traditions and culture.

Between markets and typical food, processions and parades, this day will be full of wonder and joy.

      • A hand lights an incense stick over a candle-lit altar with sugar skulls, pan de muerto, and marigold petals for Día de los Muertos.
  5. 5Day 5Oaxaca
    • Discovering Oaxaca

We're ready to spend the whole day in this vibrant and colorrful town, soaking up the art, nature, history, culture, and architecture.

      And of course, the food.

Around here, Oaxacan handicrafts are super famous, not to mention Mezcal, the agave-based liquor that's become the star of every trendy bar in the country.

Ready to dive into the Mexican nightlife?

      • An overhead view of a busy street market with colorful stalls and umbrellas, set between brightly painted colonial buildings.
  6. 6Day 6Oaxaca, still!
    • Last day in Oaxaca

This will be our last day here in this wonderful city, and we could use it to see everything we haven't seen these past few days, perhaps with some museums like the Rufino Tamayo Museum or the Oaxaca Printmakers Museum (Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños). These places often have special exhibitions dedicated to the Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos), letting us dive into the cultural and artistic meaning of this tradition.

Oaxaca during this tradition is an unforgettable experience, where the beauty of traditions mixes emotion and celebration, offering a deep immersion into Mexican culture.
      • A crowded cemetery at night where graves are decorated with abundant flowers and illuminated by many tall, lit candles.
  7. 7Day 7From Oaxaca to Puebla
    • Heading to Puebla

Our trip continues in full swing: we'll hop on a bus to leave the beating heart of this celebration behind and head to the city of Puebla. During Día de Los Muertos, this place transforms into a riot of colours and traditions. We'll explore local markets to discover the ofrendas (altars dedicated to the deceased), complete with cempasúchil flowers, candles, and sugar calaveras.

The day in the city will be filled with processions and traditional music concerts taking place along the famous Paseo de las Animas, a walk through the historic centre where we'll get to taste typical dishes like mole poblano.

      • A large Mexican flag waves over a crowded city square in front of a historic cathedral building.
  8. 8Day 8Flying to Yucatan
    • Welcome to Playa del Carmen!

This morning the alarm goes off early. We'll reach Mexico City airport by private van and catch an internal flight to Playa del Carmen.

The next few days will be all about chilling, beaches, the sea, and the much-anticipated nightlife! We could bask in the sun on one of the many beaches in the area or organise an excursion.

The only goal? To enjoy the day exactly how we want!

      • A large stone step-pyramid is illuminated by the setting sun, set against a blue sky with dramatic orange clouds.
  9. 9Day 9Chichen Itza
    • A "Wonder"

You can't come to Yucatan and not visit Chichen Itza.

It's one of the most beautiful and well-preserved archaeological sites in the world, defined as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988, as well as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Violent wars, luckily for us, hasn't ruined this site and it remains one of the best-preserved examples of Maya construction in the world: here we can pretend to play in one of the largest Ball Courts (a sport similar to football played by the Maya) in all of Yucatan.

During the spring and autumn equinoxes, a fascinating optical effect makes it seem like the god Kukulkan, a feathered serpent, descends the stairway of the Kukulkan temple (365 steps): will we be here at the right time to see this spectacle?

In the afternoon, we'll head back to Playa del Carmen and enjoy this wonderful town. Let the relaxation and fun begin!

      • The Mexican flag flies atop a stone tower in a courtyard with manicured gardens, surrounded by colonnades under a blue sky.
  10. 10Day 10Playa del Carmen
    • Relax mode ON!

This morning we wake up in Playa del Carmen, possibly a little worse for wear. However, we shake it off because we're in probably one of the most famous beaches in all of Mexico. We take advantage to enjoy all to offer because we're in the Caribbean with its coral reef and its vibrant energy.

When the sun goes down, the city centre comes alive at night with bars, restaurants, music, and clubs: tonight will be unforgettable too!

      • Clear turquoise water meets a white sand beach lined with palm trees and thatched umbrellas under a blue sky.
  11. 11Day 11Playa del Carmen
    • Beach Club, tropical islands and... Sunscreen!

In this picturesque coastal town, every day is an adventure waiting to be chosen.

We can chill on the pristine beaches, swim alongside sea turtles, or dive into the overwhelming energy of the beach clubs.

Just a stone's throw from Playa del Carmen, two paradise islands await us: Cozumel, with its bohemian vibe and the stunning El Cielo, where the sea and sky blend into an incredible palette of colours, and Isla Mujeres, famous for its never-ending parties.

The freedom to explore the Caribbean Sea makes this day unforgettable.

As the sun dips below the horizon, we soak up the last moments together on the beach, turning every instant into a precious memory we'll carry with us forever.

      • A large sculpture frames a busy tropical beach with people, a playground, and turquoise water under a blue sky.
  12. 12Day 12See you later, Mexico!
    • Check-out and goodbyes

It’s time to say goodbye, but every trip leaves behind unforgettable memories and new friendships.

We’ve shared emotions, adventures, and unique moments that we’ll carry with us.

It’s not a goodbye, just a see you later for your next WeRoad experience.
Ready for another adventure together? See you soon!
