  1. 1Day 1Welcome to South Africa!Overnight: Cape Town
    • Check-in: the adventure begins in Cape Town

Roundtrip flights or transportation to reach the destination are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.

Cape Town boasts a mix of cultures thanks to its colonial past: the strongest influences come from the Dutch and the Brits, plus many others that shape the city’s eclectic tradition and heritage.

      • Check-in and first dinner: we check in at the hotel, then start the tour right with a lovely dinner to get to know each other!

      • A harbor filled with docked boats with a city and a large, flat-topped mountain in the background under a textured blue sky.
  2. 2Day 2Cape Town: Robben Island and Table Mountain at sunsetOvernight: Cape Town
    • Robben Island

Discovering the history of South Africa means coming face to face with Apartheid and the many ways it affected this country.

      • Over to Robben Island? Our day starts with a visit to Robben Island, a tiny island just over 4 miles off Cape Town’s waterfront. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years.

It’s the symbol of South Africa's fight for freedom and the triumph of human spirit over adversity.

    • Cape Town’s neighbourhoods and Table Mountain

Cape Town is renowned for its vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods. Where do we start?

      • The colours of Bo-Kaap: the Bo-Kaap, one of the oldest neighbourhoods and probably the most famous, recognisable by its rows of colourful houses.

      • From Woodstock to the Waterfront: Woodstock, a designer district with galleries and vivid murals, then the wealthy area of Gardens and the historic town port, the V&A Waterfront.

      • Sunset on Table Mountain: we head to the top of Table Mountain, the flat-topped landmark overlooking the city.

Often at sunset the mountain is covered by the so-called “Table Cloth”, thin clouds that seem to pour over it while the rest of the sky is clear. Get your cameras ready!

      • A person stands on a rocky mountain summit with arms outstretched, overlooking a coastal city and the ocean.
  3. 3Day 3The Cape Peninsula and the Cape of Good HopeOvernight: Stellenbosch
    • On the road along the peninsula

It’s the dawn of a new day and the Cape Peninsula awaits, known for its green landscapes and hikes overlooking the coastline.

      • To Hout Bay: we drive through Camps Bay and head to the small village of Hout Bay. With a bit of luck, we’ll meet a group of sea lions living on the nearby Duiker Island.

      • Along Chapman's Peak Road: one of the most beautiful scenic routes you could ever travel, with time for views, pictures and fresh air before the Cape of Good Hope.

    • Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point and penguins

We’ve reached one of the great capes of the South Atlantic Ocean! Many sailors simply call it “the Cape”.

      • Hike to Cape Point: after a few snaps next to the iconic sign, we can hike to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean meet, depending on the currents.

      • Penguins at Boulders Beach: Boulders Beach is the only place in the world where you can get really close to a colony of African penguins. We can stroll on the walkways along the beach, watch these funny birds go about their daily life and maybe take a few selfies with them too!

      • On to Stellenbosch: in the evening we head towards Stellenbosch, where we’ll spend the night.

      • A group of penguins stands on a sandy path next to the ocean, with green bushes and mountains in the background under a clear blue sky.
  4. 4Day 4Wine tasting in StellenboschOvernight: Stellenbosch
    • Stellenbosch: South Africa’s wine region

South African wine is celebrated around the world, with a rich history dating back almost three centuries. Stellenbosch is the perfect place to sample the region’s delicious wines among dreamy landscapes.

      • Wine tasting in the vineyards: vineyards along the hills and traditional Cape Dutch style white houses are the backdrop to our wine tastings.

      • Fancy a picnic? We’ll have the chance to sample local produce at one of the many wineries and, why not, enjoy a countryside picnic under the South African sun!

      • An aerial view of a sprawling vineyard with neat rows of grapevines on green hills below a large mountain.
  5. 5Day 5Elgin Valley & HermanusOvernight: Hermanus
    • Zip-lining over the Elgin Valley

Rise and shine WeRoaders! It’s our fifth day, so why not try something new and exciting?

      • Ziplining over the Elgin Valley: after breakfast we explore the Elgin Valley from a different angle: we zipline from tree to tree!

      • Whales off Hermanus? Then off to Hermanus, a vibrant seaside town famous for land and boat-based whale watching at the right time of the year.

      • Closer by kayak? If the sea conditions allow it, we can hire a kayak and paddle out to get even closer to these spectacular creatures.

      • A humpback whale leaps from the ocean, its dark body and white fins creating a large splash in the blue water.
  6. 6Day 6On the road to the Garden Route National ParkOvernight: Wilderness
    • A relaxing morning in Hermanus

Hermanus is the perfect place for a half day of well-deserved relaxation.

      • A free morning: hikes, excursions and activities, the town has plenty to choose from.

      • Into the Garden Route National Park: after lunch we set off for the Garden Route National Park. Tonight we sleep in a cute little spot, right inside the National Park!

      • Two people from a WeRoad group trip ziplining side-by-side over a lush green forest.
  7. 7Day 7Garden Route: cliffs, coastline and Plettenberg BayOvernight: Plettenberg Bay
    • Nature and green landscapes

The name Garden Route already tells us what we can expect: stunning green cliffs and coastline! This vast National Park is vital for the local ecosystem and a precious water resource for the many species living here. So, what’s it gonna be today?

      • Fancy some kayaking? It’s one way to spend the day here: does it sound like fun?

      • A stroll in Plettenberg Bay? Later on we can drive to Plettenberg Bay for a stroll along the beach.

We are halfway through the tour, with still so much to see!

      • Elephants stand at a watering hole in a hilly savanna landscape with sunbeams breaking through the clouds.
  8. 8Day 8The best of Plettenberg BayOvernight: Plettenberg Bay
    • Beautiful Plett

The whole day is dedicated to exploring the bay and its surroundings. Plett, as the locals call it, is all about the white beach-blue water combo! With mild temperatures all year round and safe waters, it’s the perfect place to chill and unwind.

      • Spoilt for choice? Kayaking, canyoning, surfing and diving are only a few of the options!

    • Exploring our surroundings

After lunch, two ways to explore the area.

      • Nature reserve or sanctuaries? We can go for a tour of Robberg Nature Reserve, or visit Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, two animal sanctuaries dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of certain species.

      • Swimming with glowing algae: after sunset we head back to the bay, hoping to spot bioluminescent algae tinging the water an electric blue. It happens when the water is moving, so let’s jump in the waves and experience the magic!

      • A large waterfall cascades over a rocky cliff into a pool of water, surrounded by dense green trees and rolling hills.
  9. 9Day 9From Port Elizabeth to GraskopOvernight: Graskop
    • Bungee-jumping, anyone?

Today we head to Port Elizabeth, and on the way we can stop at the iconic Bloukrans Bridge.

      • Bungee jumping, anyone? It’s the tallest bungee jumping bridge in the world, at over 700 feet. If not, we can just take in the impressive view from it!

      • Flight to Johannesburg: in the afternoon, a short flight from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg, then on to Graskop for the night.

Good morning world, and good morning South Africa! Today we explore Graskop, a little mountain village a stone’s throw from scenic viewpoints and natural landmarks.
